fiasco

I had a really good 45 minutes to get some time in the Word today during rest time. Little did I know what was actually happening and why I had so much uninterrupted time. At one point I heard little Grey Bear feet running down the hall and into my bathroom upstairs. I went up to check on him and I was dumbfounded at what I saw.

First, I noticed his cheek was painted purple. Then I looked down and his hands were multicolored along with his clothes and his feet. I opened the door to the playroom and thought to myself "is this for real?"

This is just a small glimpse of the big picture. There was acrylic paint EVERYWHERE! I went and put Grey in the bathtub as to not get the paint that was on him anywhere else. Then I went back to the playroom just to make sure the first vision I had wasn't a dream. It wasn't.

Grey later explained to me that he wanted to make me a pretty picture. He made me about 7 pretty pictures but missed a lot of the picture mostly. He had even taken the shapes from the shape sorter and dipped it into the paint to make shapes. Very creative I must say. He also rolled the exercise ball through the paint across the floor. As I noticed all the details to his "paintings" I couldn't help but laugh. He even found glitter. Not sure where that was.

He told me he was making shapes just like at school and he wanted to show me how he could paint his own cheek in a big circle. He was truly proud of himself. The downer was he had to suffer consequences. I had specifically told him before rest time that he could read books, play with cars, play the guitar, play with any of his toys but NOT TO TOUCH MOMMY'S THINGS. Which he knows. He decided to disobey and with disobedience in our house comes a spanking. He also had to empty his piggy bank to pay for the carpet cleaner and that completely devastated him.

Thankfully in the long run this doesn't matter at all. And thankfully Matthew and I both can laugh about it. If you could only hear Grey telling us all the reasons he had to make those pictures!
