kindergarten catch up!

{first day of school excitement}

since we are over a month into our kindergarten year with tuck man, i figure i should document some of our happenings.

starting out was not an easy transition. slowly but surely he is getting the hang of it. we have to stay very consistent and there are big results! we started with lots of resistance and a month and a half in, we are reading some words, excited about handwriting, and able to sit in a chair for 20-30 minutes! that's a huge improvement. we will increase our daily school time throughout the year.

we mix in lots of outdoor activities as i know it's vital to his learning style. he is so fun and has so much life that i want to do the fun things all the time with him!

i am enjoying seeing the genuineness of his heart more and more as the days pass. we do have to work a lot academically, but having those heart conversations with him are the main reason for schooling him at home this year. and for that, we have a win!

we started before grey went to school so he entertained will the first few days.

the thing i love so much about having tuck home is all of the life skills we get to work on. and he just so happens to LOVE helping which is a bonus for me. he is so willing and has a great example in grey bear in learning to do things around the house.

the tuck man cares so well for others and will is no exception for him. he is constantly getting ice, bandaids, etc. he is holding ice on will's foot for him here.

he and lila get together for crafts and play time each wednesday. they have "their time." he kisses her and she blushes each time we leave.

doing his quiet time in the early morning.

hunting for animal homes. with a knife in hand.

making nests.

nature study day! when he's most alive. he draws all the things he finds and let me just say, he finds a lot!

what an awesome start to our year! we are really having so much fun.

the weekly | thirty nine

now that tuck and will share a room, their nights are wild. they set up all sorts of things and play lots before they actually fall asleep at night. it's always good when we check on them and they are zonked out.

poppie, marmie, and gram came for a visit for the weekend. Poppie built the boys swings and we got to spend time together. there was a fire and food and lots of fun!

fall skies are by far my favorite.

grey started cub scouts and is loving it. right up that boy's ally.

tuck picked me flowers and told me he wished he were a goose so he could just poop anywhere he wants. the charm never ends. he also loves to do whatever we are doing so he set himself up with his bible study early one morning.

the weather was perfect on saturday so we went for a little hayride. we happened upon our friends there which made it all the more fun!

william. he climbed in bed with me early one morning. he said he had come "just to talk." he examined my wedding rings and asked why i had them. i told them daddy gave them to me and promised to love me forever no matter what. he was unimpressed and told me he wasn't ever going to like "grills" (his version of girls) and he ONLY likes his brothers. he would ONLY marry me and he might like his sister.

and then he sneaked some fresh cookies.

these days are so precious.

the weekly | thirty seven

we spent the weekend with mark and priscilla who were here for our global impact celebration. mark has been overseas doing mission work for years and he and priscilla JUST got married like 32 days ago!!!!! we were able to have them in our home for the weekend.

i'm pretty sure being here confirmed they would like to wait to have children :) priscilla is from italy so she was not taken back too much by how loud and rowdy our house is. we enjoyed listening to her speak all weekend. the boys took to them immediately and made them feel like they have always lived here. you know, like taught them how to shoot a bb gun and bow and arrow.

we were able to hear of the work God is doing through them in other parts of the world. i am so thankful to have had the opportunity to get out of my everyday hum drum and see. to see and have perspective as i should.
